Just recently I got my 1st EBAY coin! However I had to return it AND I gave a neg to a guy who had 4,000 positive reviews.

It was a 1912 Nicarguan Codoba priced at $800 and graded AU/BU. I asked a question of the seller: does the coin have cleaning e.g. hairlines. The pix was beautiful. He didn't reply so I bought it anyway. It WAS hairlined, 2 rim bangs, circ, and packed in a paper envelope which is a no-no for high grade coins.

Returned it on the 2nd day mailed insured. He got it in 2 days. A week later I went to USPS web site to see why there was no refund. Found out he got it in 2 days and simply was holding my $800. Emailed him. No response. Opened a case with Ebay Consumer protection. Got my $800 back. Gave him a 5 for postage, a 2 for item quality, and a 1 for communicating.

So ends my one and only Ebay numismatic purchase. Note that I can't see your '38 half thus I can't tell how fairly it was graded. If you could post the photo that would help.

Well the op hasn't changed his ways , he took an ICG Details Trade dollar cracked it out and is selling it as an almost BUnc genuine coin guaranteed and in small print put (very lightly cleaned ) . Talk about a person who is doing the best to wreck our hobby . So you want to change C-B-D. Sure doesn't look that way to me . It's a pretty low down tactic .

The coin business is an expensive hobby.
Buyer beware on all "RAW" coins period.
    I have had
some expensive lessons through out my 37 years and believe me when I say this. I will continue to, if I don't renew my much needed,
"Necessary Prescription Glasses, On A Yearly Basis".

I completely agree with this. Well said CamaroDMD. I would also like to mention that just mentioning cleaned in the item description is not being fully transparent. I believe the seller should also put "Cleaned" in the title. I currently have two Indian Head cents that are cleaned and I put it in the listing title and description. Not because I'm a nice guy (which I am :D), but cause it's the right, fair and honest thing to do. And I also feel it's just good for business in the long run.

But wouldn't it be nice if all the dealers were honest . Most are but all it takes are a few bad ones who are more interested in the almighty dollar than the hobby .

I think you are being a little aggressive in this criticism. When I looked at the post it was very easy to see where he wrote it was cleaned. If that goes past the bidder it would suprise me. However it really doesn't matter that much because the buyer has 30 days for a full refund regardless of the sellers policy. It reminds me of trucks with signs that say stay back 200 feet not responsible for windshield damage. You can put any sign you want on your car or truck but that does not change liability laws. Cbd will always be held to the standards of eBay while selling on eBay.

We know what dealers are douche bags. They are the ones that stink, never smile until after they made a deal final. They are the ones that will tell you about what grading company is the best. Basically it's the grading company with the most slabs left in his case or website.

The bad dealers are the first to ask others what should be done in this situation. Hopes he only has his other criminal cliques in the room drinking from his coffee jug.

Finally, the bad dealers are the ones that will say something negative to my response.
They will tear up my grammar and tell me sweet nothings in my pm box.
So, Rzage I understand where you are coming from.
This is the great USA where everyone has that 2nd amend right. Free speech. To steal if you can get away with it or if you get caught, blame it on stupidity or someone else.
    Good night Irene.

um, first amendment is free speech, second amendment is my right to keep and bear arms. :) This isn't negative, about grammar, or in your pm's.... So I must be a good guy :p

completely agree but if I remember correctly free speech is part of the 1st amendment... The 2nd amendment is the right to bear arms.

Um. I cracked out an AU58 details, cleaned coin, then sold it as "AU+ near MS BU and cleaned". Which is EXACTLY what it is. What's the problem?

Perhaps the problem is this, and please allow me to quote you (originally posted 3/22/2013):

Now you didn't sell it as "AU+ near MS BU and cleaned", but as "AU+ near MS BU UNC" as the title and "very lightly cleaned, but spectacular nonetheless!" said elsewhere, but no mention of this was made in the actual description. Sorry, but in the original seller's photos I am seeing a coin cleaned in a manner well beyond "very lightly" and one that is far from "spectacular".

Funny, I also see no mention of the "Rim Filed" in your description or the post above, so perhaps it is not "EXACTLY what it is" after all.

Well, well, well rzage... isn't this interesting? What have you been doing with all your cracked out and dipped coins? Care to share your auction results? Found any good, sneaky ways to slip your problem coins to other collectors, or even to your LCS? I just love the way you hide behind your self-righteousness. How precious...

Funny, the rims were not filed. Not sure where the geniuses at ICG came up with that one. I made a whopping $30 or something after fees. So go ahead and tear me down.

Also, the eBay seller outreach team TOLD ME to write problems with the coin in that lower section, and specifically said to promote the good points of the item in the title. That's what I did.

I now have 30 day returns, clear pics, and I believe I was honest in MY description of MY coin that I was selling. I could care less at this point if you don't like it. Go ahead and rip me some more. I'm still here and I consider myself to be a good seller, thanks to the changes some of you taught me to make over a year ago when this thread started.
