I always try to take some nice pics myself and add a direct link to the coin on the NGC web site. So buyers have all the specs and can see the NGC pics as well...

Yeah that first set of pictures make it look cleaned. But those new pictures make it look like a really nice coin.

I feel dumb but the first pics showed that coin poorly. With the new pics and being slabbed you should be able to get $600+. Good luck and you've gotten much better at coin photography.

Can you please post a photo of the other side of the slab? NGC images not helpful, as usual.

This is obviously a great example of what a photo can do for a sale. The first set of photos makes the coin look very suspicious. I wouldn't have bought that coin. With the better photo...the coin is clearly problem free.

Yes they are...they are helpful for their purpose. You can clearly see distinguishing marks in the photo that prove the coin in the holder is the coin originally slabbed. That's all those photos are designed to do.

What kind of argument is that? Are you saying that with today's technology, these "dingy basement quality" photos are the best NGC can provide while showing a few distinguishing marks? I hope a few photography experts chime in on the NGC photos.

They aren't photographs...they are scans of the coin done at a very high volume. The purpose is to ensure the coin currently in the slab is the one that was actually graded...that's it. NGC doesn't do them for any other reason.

If you want the coins photographed by NGC...they do offer a paid service for that.

Of course it costs money. It takes training, equipment and time to take good photos of coins. They have overhead costs for that.

Yes, you've stated the obvious. I was thinking along the lines of purposefully not providing quality scans/photos for certificate verification, in order to sell the quality images as a service.

I want to say they had the photography service before they started scanning all the coins...but I could be wrong.

i have posted more than a few coins for sale and or trade on cointalk. most times i never get any offers. their have been times when i posted a coin or coins for trade or sale on a friday, big mistake. if anybody does happen to have any intrest in the coins they will wait until sunday night or monday or tuesday to speak up. well, i won't play that game. if they are too lazy to get off of their butts and ask about a coin just because it is a stupid weekend, well, then they won't be getting any coins from me come sunday night or monday or tuesday, ect. no effort equals no sale.

I tried the trade/swap forum, all items got ignored for a few weeks. Took them off and posted one for sale add. The response was instant and very pleasant. Probably beginner's luck.;)

What was it that you were responding to? I'm not sure if we're on topic anymore.

    $400 for a MS-62 is a GOOD price.
Your original problem was mostly that it wasn't slabbed.

I don't entirely understand what you are so annoyed about. I am often not on the forum much on weekends as I'm out of the house...I'd imagine a lot of people are the same way. I'm sorry if that causes your items to not sell as promptly as you'd like. I highly doubt what you are seeing is laziness...I'll bet it's that people have other things going on during the weekend.

Wow... god forbid any interested parties do not kneel down in gratitude for the opportunity to purchase your offerings the moment they're made available.

And you honestly wonder why you've had such trouble in this business?

If the claims are factual, the problem lies likely more with the provided photos than the fact the coin was raw. While much more liquid and salable now, had honest and true-to-life representations been provided when originally offered, his chances of selling at or near his asking price would likely have gone up substantially.

While I completely agree with what you are saying...I think you are dismissing the value of the slab. On eBay...everyone should be suspicious of raw coins because there is SO many that are bad. You just don't know what you are going to get...even if the photos appear good. I think a slabbed coin will realize higher prices on eBay 99% of the time verses the same coin raw. Now...will that increase justify the cost of having the coin slabbed? Maybe not...it depends on the coin.
