Hey Guys, I ordered some of the HOF coins, and I'm curious about the shipping dates. I know they are sold out, yet I see "available for shipping on 4/13/2014" on the US Mint site. My order was completed at 1:20 EST, after taking 45 minutes to get in from 12:00, and another 35-40 just to navigate the pages. What a debacle. Anyway, my ship dates are 5/28 for the proof gold and 6/17 for the unc gold. Why is there such a discrepancy from the dates I'm given vs what is still being shown on the US Mint page? Also, I'm curious as to what others are seeing for ship dates around that time? I still can't get through to the Mint to see why this is. Berneck
I have a discrepancy also. Email confirmation received Thursday after placing order says backordered with shipping date of 04/11, but order information in my US Mint account says backordered with shipping date of 06/17. I have no idea which, if either, is correct, or why. Anybody else in a similar circumstance?
I finally got through to the Mint. According to the woman at the Mint, the shipping dates on the website mean nothing right now. While my order is "on hold", it just means it's being processed. The only time you lose your place is if your credit card goes on hold, which I'm not worried about. She went on to say that accurate shipping dates probably won't be reflected in the accounts for about a week, so the dates we see right now don't mean all that much either. According to her, I ordered on the earlier side, so it reasonable to assume the ship dates will move up. Not holding my breath, but I'm hopeful. She also said they are still seeing huge demand for the coins that are still available. It was so hard to get through to them, it wouldn't surprise me if the silver coins are sold out in a few days.
I never buy the clad coins. I just feel the return on investment isn't any good, and they charge way too much. (I wish they would make the clads cheaper, to entice the younger generations to gain an interest) Anyway, I just went ahead and ordered the clads. Given the uniqueness of these coins, it might be worth investing in a couple of full sets. Hopefully, my kids will be interested someday and can enjoy the sets!
Yeah, the thing that concerns me is that the order I placed earlier (the larger order with the gold coins), is still on hold, yet the order I placed later for some silvers is in process. Doesn't makes sense to me..... I called twice and they said I'll be fine, but I'll rest a little easier when it says in process. They claim because the computer was backed up so much more at that time, they need to go back and update it, but the time I entered is what matters. Don't get why they wouldn't use Amazon as the back ground. Such a mess.
These things are common when ordering from the U. S. Mint. They have been for a long time. We were promised a new website in 2012, but it hasn't happened yet. When ordering from the Mint, things don't mean anything until they actually happen. The best thing you can do is sit back, pop open a beer and enjoy the ride. The best case is you will end up with all 70s; the worst case is you end up with no coins at all. Either result really means very little in the grand scheme of things. Just relax and watch as things develop.
