Lee? Thanks for the reality check. 400,000 ain't gonna sell out so quick. The gold quite possibly. I ordered 3 uncirc's. If these do prove popular I'll flip two.

Well, I got into the site, tried to order, but the response was "insanely" slow. Better than a minute or two just for the page to refresh and acknowledge the selection.

To me, this simply is not worth the effort. I'll order tomorrow.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that since these will probably be available at the Baltimore Show, virtually none that I would have ordered, on release day mind you, would be available for First Strike™ or Early Release labels since the cutoff date would be 4/27 or 4/28. Both dates are well beyond the 6/15 estimated ship date.

Someone is trying to sell a silver proof BBHoF coin on FeeBay for $499.99. It was listed a few hours before the coins even went on sale and his title says "Sold Out":

Then again, a sucker is born every minute. Five of these have already sold on FeeBay for $110 each:

I had a very difficult time locating the gold and chad coins. I was directed to the Silver Proof, and the other choices were not presented. I probably spent 10-15 min. trying to locate the other choices.

The long wait times are due to the Mint's web site not presenting all choices. When will the US Government web sites modernize?

I ordered two coins. Curious to see how the Mint packages these coins so that they are not damages in shipment.

Sell out...not likely. PM prices are low and so is interest in PM. 50,000 gold coins @ $420 is $21 Million in sales, and 400K for silver coins is not likely. The ASE sell large numbers because there are so many collects who just keep adding to their sets. I would be surprised to see 150K silver sales and 25K gold. We will see...

I don't believe that the US Mint charges our credit cards until they ship the product that was ordered. Is that correct?

The Mint tracking page now shows that the Silver Proof is scheduled for a 6/15 ship date and the Gold Proof is 7/1 ship date.

What if the price of gold is increases $200 to $1500 by 7/1, does the price change based on the PM prices as of the ship date, or does the Mint lock in todays prices?

What is the Mint's return policy on these items? two weeks?

    Thanks

    Correct.

Right again. You are locked in at todays offering price.

I believe it to be one week from the time you receive your set.

I just can't find myself excited enough about the subject matter to run out and buy one. I waited in the "Waiting Room," looked at prices and mintages, and logged off. Maybe I'm way off, but I don't look for the long term premium on this coin to end up much more than the initial US Mint premium. Modern commemoratives just don't seem to have the market strength that they once had.

Second thought, but a couple for the store, just in case. :)

The site is still a little sluggish at about 5:45 PM. I ordered one at 5:54 PM and it took a few minutes in the queue. Mine is backordered until 15 June 2014 . My order number is 42955***.

Hey, we buyers could even LOSE Money on the initial purchase price as this occurs quite frequently.

Both of the gold options now show this in the product description. They're goners.

Guys I've been at the show all day. I am holding the coins in hand and they are freaking gorgeous. For all u haters out there go ahead and hate because that is more coins for me. Coin dealers are now currently offering $200 above sale price for each gold coins and $500 above sale price for the gold coins if they comes back a pf/ms 70. Offering $700 above sale if u bought and sold the max coins raw. Easy money. What a crazy day.
