I just got this back for change in a corner store in NYC where I live. I haven't check it for any errors yet but was wondering the condition of it and what its worth and what is the O?
The "O" means that it was struck at the New Orleans Mint. There were more than 4 million of them struck, and based on the condition, it's only worth about melt value. Chris
I agree, I would be speechless if I got a Morgan silver dollar as change. Where the heck do you shop?
Great place to shop if you can get coins like this in change. Even in this condition it is worth MORE than melt value. You should be able to get $20.00 for it. Melt value is approximately $16.00 @ $20.82 spot price.
this may be a fake and could be why you got it so cheap. check it with a magnet and if it sticks to the magnet it's fake. some of the newer fakes will not stick to a magnet.
I doubt it's a fake. I can see counterfeiting Morgan dollars and selling them on eBay for big $$, but giving it back as $1 in change? Won't make a whole lot of money doing that...
Im willing to sell it if the price is right. Not a big fan of it Im more into the Lincolns. The only time I check Dimes, Nickels, etc is when I get them at a store. If anyone is interested in it msg me.
