I received 16 $20 star notes today. Nice fresh 2017 A starting with PK09361409* Only worth face value but fun to find in circulation. I'll probably save one for my small collection.
Every once in a while, those cash machines are filled with new straps of notes and you'll find that. Fun find, but like you said, not really worth much to collectors.
Forgive my ignorance, I'm very new to this, why wouldn't a whole bunch of consecutive number star notes be worth anything?
It typically depends on the series, district, serial numbers and centering. With inflation at over 5%, it doesn’t pay to sit on them.
Thank you, I knew the back plates from the other 3 runs but didn't know this one. At one time there was great speculation that the PK stars from this series were duplicate printed the same as the 2013 $1 B stars. The reports from the BEP are now believed to have typographical errors by many as the notes from the supposed duplicated runs haven't shown up in circulation or at least enough to prove the theory. As both runs were reported to have been printed at the same facility though and the only way to tell which run a note was from, was the back plate numbers, but some of those were the same across both runs. For instance, one print run's back plates were 1,3,2 and the other printing run's were 1,4,3. Both were reported to have started at serial number 00000001. Fun stuff!
Where would be the best place to sell them in terms of getting the most for your money? I have a few consecutive mint star notes that I got from the bank a couple of years ago. I've been holding on to them, but would like to sell them, I just don't know how to go about it to get the best price. Ebay seems like the worst place because profits are entirely eaten up by fees. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
