I myself trust them. I like them because ICG graded coins sell for quite a bit less than NGC or PCGS coins. You can get nice coins graded by ICG for good deals because of this. If you cracked out coins in ICG slabs and sent them to NGC or PCGS, you would probably get the same grade, or one grade below.
Thank you I bought a grab bag thing from ebay and one of the coins was ICG. I know some people prefer NGC,PCGS or ANACS
I wouldn't trust them. There was a time when they were considered reputable...but those days are long gone as the company has changed ownership. I would consider their slabbed coins raw at this point and I wouldn't spend money to have them grade any coins. However, I feel the same way about ANACS.
Depending on how one looks at it, this may be true, but it is important to note that there is often a good reason why ICG holderd coins sell for quite a bit less. While there is no way to definitely respond to such a general statement, I would caution against assuming one "would probably get the same grade", and while "or one grade below" may be somewhat more likely, to make this fair we should also add "or end up wasting your money". Considering the OP's question, I respectfully suggest that it would be in his best interest to make no such assumptions and avoid ICG altogether until he's able to properly assess the coin inside. Even though the same could be said for PCGS or NGC, generally speaking they do offer a better balance, especially for new collectors.
