Nice, i've eyed some door campgates more myself but havent bought. My Vauction win is a cool roman republic to match one I already have, just a different reverse. First republic addition since july of last year! Reasonable price even after fees. Wont share it till its paid for and arrives. Ive got several coins and other stuff missing and others doing a round about. F-en post office.
My only campgate. Nothing special. Licinius II (317 - 324 A.D.) AE3 O: D N VAL LICIN LICINIVS NOB C, laureate, draped consular bust right, globe and scepter in right hand, mappa in left. R: PROVIDENTIAE CAESS, campgate with three turrets, “L” right, SMH“G” in ex. Heraclea mint 3.2g 19.9mm RIC VII 49
It seems many of us had luck at vauctions today. I came away with one of the 12 Caesar's myself and can't wait to post it once it arrives.

Sweet coin Eng! I might have to try Vauctions to help finish up my 12 Caesars since you and Whiz seem to be having luck there. My only camp-gate. Constantine II; 326-8 AD Bronze AE3, 20mm/3.7g, Thessalonica mint, OBV: CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C, head, laureate, draped & cuirassed bust left / REV: PROVIDENTIAE CAESS, camp-gate with two turrets and star above, SMTS in ex. (RIC VII 157.1)
Bronze. But I realize I may have to go silver for some of the rare ones. Otho etc. Right now I'm eyeballing this Titus which I really like. But I think the dealer is asking too much.
I am glad you weren't bidding in this auction then! You might have snuck my beautiful bronze out from under me
I'm sure you got a better deal than I would have if I decide to pay what the joker who's selling this coin is asking. Frankly, that's what I find most frustrating about ancients. Divining what constitutes a "fair price" is a lot more challenging than what I've experienced while collecting US coins.
I'm trying to get them in all large bronze, i got one more today, posting soon... Thanks for the posts, great lookin' camp gates..
I might as well add my campgate to the chain as well. I must admit the only reason I purchased this coin because I think it looks like Constantine is trying to stop from giggling because he just farted. It makes me smile every time I see it.
There are a few campgates (including a rough open door starting at $30) in the current Agora Auctions sale. http://agoraauctions.com As well as some "budget" 12 ceasars...
