If anyone is interested in seeing coins I find and buy, I made an instagram to regularly share my pictures. I am a coin roll hunter and I also buy coins weekly at auction and on cragislist. If you are interested in coins I find and buy my instagram is bspacoin, I only mention this because I will be updating that more regularly and won't be sharing every piece I buy or find in cointalk. I don't mean for this to be spammy or annoying if you are not interested no worries!

I just took a look at the 1879 Morgan you posted, and you need to provide better photos of BOTH sides, not just the obverse. Also, it would be better if you took the photos from directly overhead.

Oh ok thanks for the tips I really was not sure how to photograph coins, might be a camera quality issue as well...

also...additional tip...dont sell your coins in mixed lots....you will make more money selling individually. think about it, how many people are searching for a specific year morgan, an indian head penny, and 10 buffalo nickels? probably no one. however, i believe there are HUNDREDS of people looking for that year morgan, a bunch looking for that penny, and a bunch looking for those nickels. i sell a bit on ebay.

I was originally going to piece everything out but ebay gave me a very unreasonable selling limit of 25 auctions per month... the lot still comes up in searches for "1879 morgan dollar" just not on top. Do you think I will get substantially less selling mixed lots?

you will make less money. the person who wins that lot will be after the morgan. lets say they are willing to pay "$x"...with all those other coins they dont care about, they may pay $4-5 more. thats it. i would at the least break out the silver certificates in one auction, the buffalos in another, and the morgan on its own. trust me on this.

Hmm... I only paid $40 for the whole lot will I make $40 on this? I just have plenty other stuff to sell and I only have 12 auctions left for the month.

i believe after fees you will make money. you arent going to retire early. but for example, you are selling a fairly recent kennedy half with a starting bid of 50cents....kind of a waste right there. noone is going to bid on it unless i am missing something. they can go to the bank and get one for 50cents.

i would sell things in self-similar lots. silver cert's in one. buffalos in one. morgan on its own. the morgan will sell for $22-28 on ebay.

I have to ask....what did someone pay for a circulated, base-metal, recent year, half dollar?

$1.00 each, I sold 6 to one guy and shipped them for $1 so I made a few bucks, not worth my while.
