    Hello all.

As I mentioned in my introduction post, I recently purchased 73 half dollars of various types. I didn't buy them for any collector value and only paid a little above spot price. Some of them seem to be in decent condition (mostly the Walking Liberties) so I thought I would check with those with more experience (you guys!) to see if any might be in good enough condition to bring more than melt value.

    This is what I bought:

    3 Kennedys
    24 Franklins
    36 Walking Liberties
    10 Barbers.

Here are the Barbers. On average, they are in the poorest condition of the coins I got. To my untrained eye, I wouldn't think any are worth more than melt. Some of these have plastic over them so its hard to tell if the mark or scratch is on the coin or plastic.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Ps – If this isn't the proper place for this type of post please let me know. Thanks.

In addition to the heavy wear, I'm seeing signs of cleaning and/or damage on some of them. Even in that state, though, Barbers can bring a bit more than melt. Don't be in a rush to chuck them into the pot. :)

even in the condition they are in, still worth a small premium! Plus its a neat piece of history to show the kids, friends, etc! The 1915S might be a little better date I think

I'm not planning on getting rid of them anytime soon. My main reason for buying them is to stack silver for the future. I just thought if any of them had some collector value I might try to sell them and get them into the hands of somebody who will appreciate them.

I agree they are really cool though. :)
