I cannot read the mintmark from the image you posted. I take you can make out the inscription on the reverse in exergue?
Constantius II fel temp galley reverse If you can read legends/inscriptions, as I can from the photo, try using wildwinds and the thumbnail images to try and find the coin...........we'll help out, but you'll learn more from attributing the coin yourself..? ps. What letters can you make out in the exergue?
It's very worn I can't make out anything other than it being the ruler Constantius 2. Yeah it's the galley coin. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
If this is a Constantius II Fel Temp Galley type, I do not think it is from Antioch. I cannot find any from Antioch for him. Either it's not from Antioch or it's not Constantius II. This type was widely used by Constans? I must be getting old and my eye site failing, as I can't make out very much of the legends. I believe I can make out a chi-rho on banner. This may help to narrow it down.
Sometimes being psychic helps; Sometimes psycho isn't bad either. What I'll never understand is why people take pictures of coins with phones. Cheap cameras or a scanner could do better.
could be anything in the exergue...I see what Doug sees too, but I can make it TESA too if I try hard. If CONSA its not Constantius. I am pretty certain its Constantius as there are too many letters after the STAN for it to be SPFAVG which would be the Constans obv lettering. Looks more like TIVSPFAUG Assuming the mintmark is 4 characters and the one on the far right isnt the rudder, I would think TESA was the best candidate...... Surely we can get a better pic of the exergue?
Sorry - I didn't look at the entire obverse legend. It's too long to be a coin of Constans, so the attribution on the 2x2 is wrong. But I still think the mintmark is TESB.
