Die Crack (World Coin)

    Just wanted to see what more knowledgable people have to say about this error.

    Looks like a die crack to me.

    Yep, die crack! Have to give it a details grade because of the booger.:eek:

    Nice one...

    I see that your signature says that you are a "Counterstamp Collector."

    Well, take a look at these coins. I know they probably aren't counterstamped, per se. They're probably counterMARKED. Probably by a vendor in Japan who did business with foreign sailors, or something like that. (1877 2 Sen coins) Have you ever come across Japanese coins like this? $_57-2.JPG

    No, I haven't seen these before. I'm not aware of many Japanese counterstamps but I don't collect many foreign issues. I have a good collection of Irish stamps and a few English and French, but stick mostly to U.S. issues.
