Was not the consensus last time that we should just ignore him? Try harder next time.

yes me too, although I was unaware of a consensus, as I missed his last rant. I have let him know my feelings in PM. I will ignore him now.

I'll second what Jim has said, cyber bullying will not be tolerated.

From the rules in case anyone needs a reminder.

2 – Personal attacks are not permitted. All Coin Talk members, young, old and in between, will treat all other members with respect and be civil at all times. You are expected to act as responsible individuals, there will be no name calling or flame wars.

Cyber bullying will not be tolerated. And it is up to the sole discretion of the Moderators as to what does, or does not, constitute cyber bullying; as are the consequences for such.

I'm sorry, but I think I am missing something. I don't see any personal attacks nor any cyber bullying. I can only speak for myself and my posts, but what I said was in response to someone referring to the members here as "pathetic". If what I've said is deemed either personal or cyber bullying, I must be dense. And, if what I've said is deemed so, I apologize to my fellow members, albeit with one exception.

I think we have a great bunch of members posting on this forum and I believe most, if not all, try to abide by the forums rules. I can't imagine not having CT.

For a brief moment I was tempted to merge parts of this topic with the one about "ancient Islamic gold" (see here). Simply for my own amusement. :D

Yes, of course there are fake ancient, Islamic etc. coins out there. But to simply claim that a piece shown here is a counterfeit - without any substantiation - does not make any sense, and may be considered to be offensive, to put it very carefully. Then again, what about your (plural) promise to ignore such posts? ;)

So then it would be better to argue rather than ignore? And I suppose that as a group we choose to ignore such statements, that's considered bullying? Man, the definition of bullying sure has changed since I was a young person.

Perhaps the owners of this list need to clarify their position on this. From the above I did not take the accused bully as being the refutation but the person who drops the Fake Bomb without substantiation. Bing saw it differently. Sooner or later we will experience a post by someone of the opinion that all ancient coins should be property of the nations currently controlling regions where they are found which means private collecting should be outlawed or disrupted by any means necessary. There is no benefit arguing this point any more than there is the question of universal fakes. I feel a bit responsible for this because the most prolific posters here moved to CT at my suggestion when we became unwelcome at another venue. Tell us, moderator: Do you call ignoring inflammatory statements inappropriate behavior?
Yes, Bing, many things have changed.

I concede that Doug. Thanks for posing the eloquent question to the moderators that I was having difficulty in forming.

Maybe you take all this a little too seriously. The only thing that I found odd, apart from muhab's comments in bold and red, is this: Somebody makes a post about ignoring somebody else from now on, and then doesn't. Which of course is not wrong by itself, but I wonder why it is done.

Indeed so. I'll help clear it up - the moderator's comments were NOT directed at Bing.

On the contrary, ignoring them is the appropriate thing to do.

What he said - the responses from the other members of the forum to the problem post resulted in me not removing the reported post in question. But as Jim and I both did, we asked the members to keep the thread on track and personal attacks out of it. And the problem post was not from Bing as Doug said.

Often both sides of a situation feels the posting is about them, as we have no way to insert a posting between those already in the thread, and editing a previous post isn't often re-read by the intended recipient, and the person directly above the mod takes offense.

Back and forth comments often may cause 'innocent' people to be caught up. I have found the members that associate most with this subforum to be very conscious of their actions ( although sometimes questionable humor :) ) and when a reported thread comes in, I check it out, If no reported thread, I may only read occasionally. So report and ignore a violator.
