I think the noteriety is reward enough for Mr. Kagin. His name is already all over the AP since this news broke. All the extra business and fame from brokering this deal will more than make up for the potentially lower prices realized. (I'll try to take a few pics later today of the coins).
Looked to be about 14 or so. They looked like they were made yesterday. Most popular display there. The containers were pretty cool. One looked like an old paint can. Also on display, 1792 Half Disme, 1804 Silver Dollar, 1913 Liberty Nickel and a collection of old Georgia gold. I went looking for a Chain Cent and came away empty handed... Almost bought a 1802/1 Half Eagle PCGS AU55 / CAC but a spot on the obverse kept me from getting it. Lots of very nice coins though, one dealer had a complete set of Buffalos all high MS. He was selling them as a set. It was the most impressive set these eyes have ever seen. CBD, you're right, its cold and that wind will make you run for cover. One question for you CBD, did you think they were ever going to cut the @#$%^& ribbon? Hope they do it again next year.
Correction: You paid for the early bird, but received the extra early treatment!!! Using the "Columbo" method is always fun... <<pinky and thumb to forehead>> "I could of sworn the early bird was for 10:00...I have the sheet here somewhere" <<patting pockets>>
I was going to be upset that this was not presented by El Cheapo, but judging from the haul it looks like El Cheapo was absent...
Amazing stuff! I can't stop looking at that Bust Half Dollar. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen
