    Ok guys.

You may or may not know that 1915 S $5 Indians get VERY expensive in mint state.

The difference in price between MS62 and MS63 is around $14,000...

One of these coins is in the PCGS MS62 CAC holder and one of these coins is in a PCGS MS63 CAC holder...

Care to guess? One of these is a $6,000 coin and one of these is a $20,000 coin.

For full disclosure, I bought them raw, certified them, submitted them to CAC.

Coin 1 seems to have more dings and chatter in the field...especially under the TY in "Liberty" I see a pretty good hit. So, I'm going to say:

    Coin 1: MS62
    Coin 2: MS63

I can't tell if coin 2 is softer strike or more wear...

    Coin 1: MS63

I'm not even going to guess. I could never grade these Indian Half (or Quarter) Eagles.

What he said, question I have is the toning on the reverse of coin 2, did that affect the grade and maybe knock it down? I still agree with CamaroDMD though.

Maybe...but normally toning doesn't do that unless it's really unattractive and I would say the toning is subtle here anyway. But, another thing I didn't mention in my post is the reverse of coin 1...there's a pretty good ding right above the eagle's head.

I agree but not sure how the TPG treats gold toning even if attractive in my opinion.

Unless I'm about to have an epiphany, the difference between an MS66 and an MS61 isn't only strike/luster but also wear...
