Is that a P or a D? It looks like a D in the photo but it is blurry. The narrow/wide rim variety only matters on P coins.

It's a P. Sorry for the blurry photo.

If it's a P, it looks like a wide rim to me.

I've been saving SBA dollars for years, and just decided to look for wide rim varieties last week. This is the only one I found. What condition do you think it's in? The red book says $60 for one in MS 63 condition, which is not the condition my coin is in. Is it worth more than face in this condition? Here's a snap of the reverse:

    I also found a '99 SBA that I didn't know I had.

Ebay completed listings show that you could prolly get more than f/v for it. How much over? I dunno...
I've only found 3 wide rims in over $7,660 searched.

really? i thought it was more common than that. i've searched <5000 and found 6. probably because 50%+ of the dollars i get are 1979/1980 SBA dollars though.
i sold a lot of 3 for $100, and 2 individually for $20 each, so you should get a good amount over face value for it

I'm not planning on selling it (unless I get a really good offer) but it's nice to know that it's worth more than $1. It's also nice to know that I found a "special" coin that is somewhat scarce in plain old circulation.

I had maybe 45 SBDs and found 1 out of 45, which sounds like pretty good luck going by what some of the rest of you have said.

I found another one at work. A customer spent it along with a narrow rim. 2 in just a few weeks isn't bad.
