"Hi Doug" => yah, I know that you're probably out there lurking somewhere, waiting to address the ol "Tritartemorion" issue ... oh, and that's what I love 'bout ya ... I always want to re-classify my coin in "Doug-terms"

Oh, and "yes" this is the coin that I mentioned in an earlier communication to you ... in other words, this is gonna be the last cool-purchase for at least a month!! (aka, a little while) ...

=> yup, it's budget-time!! (good for her ... I was burnin' like an unstable comet ... hopefully "moderation" will allow my coins and my awesome wife a chance to mesh!!)

.... yah, I seem to have an aimless collection strategy, but I must admit that I "always" feel fulfilled when I score myself an "archaic coin" of some sort ...

=> I mean seriously man, if you're gonna collect ancient coins then you may as well collect the oldest examples, right?

I do not know what the people of Mende called the coin. It may have been what the Athenians of the same period called their similarly sized coins or not. You know that now. My work here is done.

Obviously, I like the coin. I probably would not have paid what you paid just like you probably would not be interested in my last or next piece of scrap metal. I'm also in the need of cutting down on purchases but for different reasons. My wife does not express opinions on my purchases. She knows I am a cheapskate. It is just four weeks until a Baltimore coin show where I plan on spending myself silly. I still have a couple of junkers coming but it is time to start saving up for something. The last big show produced that Sikyon stater that cost as much as a dozen of my normal junkers. What will this time bring? Will this list survive another period of Steve being on the wagon? Who will step up and find another pattern for our posts? Will the postman bring any of us something today? Stay tuned.

Great coin Steve! I'm always a bit flabbergasted at the fact that this was not the smallest denomination. o_O

=> thanks for giving your coin-opinion, Doug (I always love hearing your view on my purchases ... good, or bad)

Ummm, and although I must admit that I spent a bit more than I wanted to spend, I don't think I was stupid in my final winning bid?

=> firstly, I've never seen a better example than my lil' beauty (please post a better one, if you've seen 'er)

=> secondly, I do have a couple of examples (and more, if needed) that show that my coin-purchase was certainly as "sound" as these other dude's coin purchases, right?

=> ummm, but anyway ... regardless (irregardless is not a word, right?), I'm absolutely lovin' my new animal-coin purchase (Lovin-Lovin-Lovin' it!!)

Thanks again, my friend .... coin-on!!!
