I know many of you really like this design, but I think it's one of my least favorites. The design reminds me of Capt. America stepping from the witness stand. I know there are a lot of interesting design elements, but overall, it has too many. It's one of my least favorite designs.

Great eagle, interesting obverse, (but somewhat busy). I just never understood why she is standing between those two walls. Why? It looks likes she is in a WW1 trench.

I think the 1917 Type one design is one of the best artistic designs the reverse is beautifully done , but I also think they wrecked her in the Type II designs . Especially if you want a real full head and rivet design . If we were talking about the Type I it would be in my top 3 or 4 but together with the poorly struck type II it's average . Medoraman remember Europe was involved in WWI and we were just about to enter it when it was designed so the walls might symbolize protection from our enemies as I think the added chainmail does , so you could be right .

Some designs, like Walking Liberty are timeless, and some designs, like Standing Liberty just look old.

I like the design is probably no 3 for 20th c designs behind the st gaudens $20 and the walking liberty I greatly prefer the type one too it reminds me of ww1 and the roaring 20s a classic design that fit the time period perfectly

The Type Ones can be found with an absolutely hammered strike. I like those far more than the Type Twos.

    Best Regards, :)

Type 1 is true coin porn on the Obv. I do think the Rev has one of the better eagles.

Thanks! We had a discussion on another thread I posted about the possibility of it being undergraded a tiny bit. In hand I couldn't understand why it was a 61.

I always thought the premise was nice, but the execution was disastrous. Liberty's body looks like it was started at the bottom and as they worked their way up realized they weren't going to have enough room so her proportions began go shrink. So now when I see this coin I think of some circus freakshow pinhead. It could have been such a great design.

Here's mine . I think the design is in perfect proportion . The flowing gown may make it look off to some but if you've taken any art classes in the human anatomy it's right on .

Im getting closer to the 65s. I started with an XF-40, inherited a couple of AUs (one TI and one TII), bought my first mint state (NON-FH), and now inherited/purchased (from my grandfather) a 64-FH. The next price jump is a doozy though and it might be a while before I can afford a 65-FH.

I don't know Rusty. I don't see many people who's heads in profile view are smaller than their thighs. Maybe she's just got some massive twigs or something. lol
