1939 double monticello?

    Looks like either MD or the result of die deterioration.
    A picture of the entire reverse would help.

    The 1939 Doubled Monticello has a wide spread such that if you have to ask, then it is certainly machine doubling. Here is a photo of a Doubled Monticello:

    I found one of the double Monticello's years ago. My son found another one. I still have mine and my son sold his. Lehigh 96 showed a great photo of the doubling. Thanks.

    yeah to all of the above comments, looks like shelf doubling to me.
