Any suggestions which monthly magazine subscription might be best for someone relatively new in the field? Thanks for the input.

I feel like CoinWorld is better than Coin Prices or Coins magazine. The latter two seem to have one article per issue, a price guide, and tons of ads. CoinWorld usually has quite a few articles, a price guide, and a world coins section (along with the usual tons of ads.)

Numismatic News also has lots of interesting info. I believe that comes with an ANA subscription.

For my part, I enjoy COINage Magazine. I'm a beginner and have nothing to compare against, but I do enjoy it. It's available at my local market too, that's how I picked it up the first time.

Numismatist comes with the ANA membership.

Numismatic News is a weekly rag similar to Coin World.

Note: If you opt for the weekly CW, it also includes a monthly issue of Coin Values which is printed on glossy paper.

Thanks Chris (for correcting me.) I always get those two confused in my brain parts...

That's okay! I used to get my wife and girl friend confused all the time.

What about Coin World Special Edition which is published monthly? How is that content wise as compared to Coins or COINage?

I like Coin World a lot and I don't think anything there could hurt a beginner.

I like CoinWorld. I just renewed and upgraded to the weekly edition. The Numismatist is not bad. I'd put COINage third on my list.

IMO, for weekly, I like both Coin World and Numismatic News.
    For a monthly, The Numismatist.
    I get all three.

What "field"? Are you interested in only US coins? World coins? All coins, including tokens and ancients? There is no answer in my view unless we know what "field" you mean sir. Hopefully its not ancients, since our main magazine is now defunct. :(

I like the Numismatist... I pay the extra w/ my ANA membership to get the print copy in the mail as I would never read the online copy. Well worth the cost of the ANA membership just to get the magazine and you should all be members of the ANA anyways, whether or not you like the way the organization has been run or is being run!

I also enjoy The California Numismatist which is put out by the NASC and CSNA and sent to members of each organization. Great quarterly magazine and you can read back issues on their website:
