    Ummm, just in case anybody else outside of the "ancient-gang" is reading this post, I have been trying to collect a coin from every "Coin-Century" ...

    => in other words, I have tried to collect a coin from every century, starting with the 6th Century B.C. (Lydia Siglos), through until today's modern Queen Elizabeth II's ...

    ... anyway ... today I crossed-off a couple more coin-centuries!! (yeeeehaaaa!!)

    NOTE => a week or two ago, I bought a coin from "Lorraine, the 14th Century A.D." ... well, apparently I thought that coin was so cool that I've continued to buy a couple more coins from Lorraine ...

    => here are my two newest coin-purchases ... a coin from the 15th-Century A.D. and a coin from the 17th-Century A.D.

    Eh-heh-heh => admittedly, I'm way outta my comfort-zone, but I'm hoping that you dudes feel the happiness and coolness of these two new coin-purchases?!! (ummm, so please "try" to enjoy my new love and enthusiasm!!) ... thanks, gang!!

    Cheers!!

    First mentioned in medieval times, Metz was burned to the ground by Attila the Hun in 451. Later, the city had important Carolingian ties, as it became the city where many of the early Carolingians were buried, was under consideration by Charlemagne to become his capital (eventually choosing Aachen), and was the place of Charles le Chauve’s coronation. Following this event, Metz became an episcopal city. Its final centuries as a free city were met with constant hostility, as four surrounding powers combined forces against it: the archbishop of Trier, the duke of Lorraine, and the counts of Bar and Luxembourg. The city finally succumbed to French rule following the Treaties of Osnabrück and Münster, eventually known as the Peace of Westphalia

    => thanks dude

    Yah, unfortunately, the 1st example (the Kneeling Saint) is a bit worn, so the "Hand of God" is a bit hard to distinguish, but I'm thinking the ol' Hand of God is pretty fricken cool, right?

    ... huh? ... although, that cool eagle is also pretty cool ...

    = yah, it is a bit of a toss-up, eh?

    Cheers, my friend (thanks for the coin-comments) ... I hope that things are cool and I hope that you have a great weekend!!

    I don't know anything about those coins, but they certainly are beautiful. I recently examined some Lithuanian groszen and I was surprised at how paper-thin they were. Are these the same way?

    Hey, "Hi JA" => ummm, "nope" => thankfully, these coins range between 1.21 grams and 2.92 grams, which gives you a fairly nice-enuf coin, right? ...

    NOTE => a dime is 2.33 grams

    Hey, but if you want => I'll try to remember your question and I'll try to "stevex6-fricken-photo" another couple of shots with similar "known coins"

    => hey, dawg => "please" remind me and I will try to answer your question (I like you)

    These ancient threads are so nice to read, I love the 'camaraderie'! I almost want to collect ancients to be a part of it. :) Not to sound cheesy but this is what coin collecting is all about.

    You can participate with or without collecting. We try to have fun with our obsessions. No one else around us seems to care.

    Will do! I certainly have a few comments I could add when I see everyone's ancients, however 'uneducated' they may be. ;) No new coins recently, but I am writing a thread about some references I've recently purchased. Stay tuned.
