I have three coins of the same emperor and denomination that I have on my want list. At some point I plan on getting all of them.

Do I have an ancients problem? Will I need to go into a two step process?o_O

I have weeds of julia domna and faustina jr. denarii, they just keep growing & growing. I spray but they still come back.

    I know I have a problem!

At least it's still early enough to do something. Once you start getting books on ancients, well, you're too far gone. I think I have bronze disease, and silver disease.

    Perhaps a 12 step program, but a two step is a dance!!

if you're 14 years old and write book reviews about ancient coin books....then yes... you have a coin problem.

    :)

    ..but good for you!

Yes, you need to undertake the 2-step program.

    1. We admitted we were powerless over coin collecting.
    2. We bought some more coins.

I hope you realize that there are two people on this list who each have 500 denarii of Septimius Severus (I believe I'm right on this) so you may not be asking the right people for unbiased information.

When I'm done with them, 100 of my Septimius denarii will be easy to sell and will go to specialist collectors. The rest will be harder to move... a lot harder. That will be my heirs' problem. Similarly about 1/5 of my general collection will be desired by sensible people while the rest (the ones worth under $100 a coin) will go as a bulk lot later to be divided among beginners. That is no problem to me.

    Umm, I was more thinking:

    1. Bang head against wall.
    2. Repeat as necessary.

How does banging your head against the wall get you any more coins?

  15. And I thought I had a lot of Septimius denarii at 8

    I don't think that I have a problem. I KNOW I HAVE A PROBLEM!

Amongst my 100s of Sept. Sevs. I have seven different coins from a single obverse die and am still on the search for more.

Whilst on the SS theme, I dont seem to see many of his Sestertius about....are they less common than other emperors coins? coincidentally, My first ever Roman silver metal detecting find was a Septimius severus denarius.....my dad found a Hadrian sestertius 2 feet away when he came over to see what I had !!

I envy you guys. Metal detecting for ancient coins is a kind of exercise I could actually embrace with enthusiasm.

Gotta write a new CA (Coin Anonymous) 12 step program.

    1. I am powerless over buying ancient coins. I am broke and my life is unmanageable.

    2. ...

    3....

    12. We practiced all these principals in our life's affairs. Carried the message to all coin addict sufferers.
