I see there are a few software programs out there to help grade coins. I now have a few books, but was wondering what some of you all's thoughts are on using this kind of tool. Looks like the purchase price is around $50. The price part does not concern me, but I was wondering any members have tried it. I now use Coin Manage for my inventory, which I really like, but this may necessitate using to different programs, which again is not a deal killer for me.

    Thoughts?

If it'll even slab my coins, I'll take it.

Coin grading software, really? You'd probably have to enter some parameters manually, then the computer tells you a grade using a simple algorithm. Why not learn the process yourself?

I wouldn't trust a coin grading software. Could be useful for comparison, or just for fun, but I wouldn't rely on it. How would the software tell you if the coin is authentic or not, cleaned or not?

Just when I thought I seen and heard it all....coin grading software.

    PCGS and NGC, beaware!

Yeah, and it's existed for, if memory serves, over 20 years now. PCGS even developed their own, but they, just like everybody else who tried it, gave up on the idea when they realized it didn't, and couldn't, work.

There is old (funny) video where David Hall is talking about software replacing human graders in the near future. He really believed it back then.
