Seems you have to call them. It says do not fill out the form if you go to shows or sell on a website.
Okay, and.....? If it says to call, then call. There are some things you just have to do for yourself, Tim. As for selling on a website, I am not sure if your mother's ebay account counts. With all due respect, Tim, I doubt you need to be concerned with dealer restrictions or inventory insurance.
Document the fact that you do not set up at shows, or travel with your coin inventory. Hugh Wood is also the preferred insurer for the American Philatelic Society, stamp collections up to $1M. See http://www.stamps.org/insurance
Did you seriously miss this thread, which was at the top of this sub forum when you created your own thread? http://www.cointalk.com/threads/insurance.241832/
I thought I had just saw a thread about this the other day...I thought I was crazy for a second there.
Honestly, Tim... do you really think that at this point in time, you need insurance for your collection or "inventory"? Perhaps there have been very recent and significant changes in your life, but from all that you've told us, I question the necessity.
What I find interesting is that he actually separates the two and feels the need to insure one and not the other. He must have a lot more coins than we thought, especially given he is not going to buy any more this year.
I just include my collection in my homeowners insurance in case of burglary and/or fire. Same as jewelry or any other valuable. Does not cover me if I take my collection out on the road to a show, but I never do that. I guess it all depends on what you need insurance for.
If you are an ANA member you might want to check into Hugh Wood. You would probably find it significantly cheaper than a rider on your homeowners insurance.
I will look into Hugh Wood. But with State Farm, I have history and when I put in a call for a claim I don't get any argument, just a check. Anyone have any experience with actually filing a claim with Hugh Wood? How easy was it to get reimbursed for your loss? How long did it take? How much effort was involved (how did you have to prove your loss)? Yes, it may be cheaper but these are all the things I worry about.
There must be a dealer here that used HWI that have had a claim at some point in the past, even a tiny one like a lost package. But your right, I've never seen this answered either.
Then you might want to investigate just a bit regarding your State Farm policy, and ask some pointed questions. I say that because I too was SF customer for many years and tried everything under the sun to get a rider with them that would actually cover anything. Best they could ever even offer was $1500 worth of coverage. And even that cost more than Hugh Wood's policy for $100, 000.
My inventory is covered by Hugh Wood. It's not easy to get covered... Lots of hoops to jump through... But I'm happy with them.
