At a coin club meeting a couple of weeks ago, I bought my first half cent. It is an 1826, and I paid $2. Granted, the obverse is terribly corroded, and the date is kind of hard to see, but the reverse is kind of pretty. I haven't any talent for photographing copper, but I bet you can imagine the quality of it.

$2? Are you serious? I'll quintuple your money if you're interested.

Thinking back, it might have been $3. Anyway, I bid the minimum and the room full of dealers was not interested in topping that. This is probably a good indicator of the condition of the coin:eek:. I will squirrel it away into my 7070 album until I decide I need to get a better example. (you should probably keep BST offers out of these posts, as it is against the rules)

My wife's valentines day present minted 100 years before we were married (2007) She likes coins she can actually hold and the price was right so I picked this up.

It is the double die but that's considered the obverse on USPI coinage not the reverse.

A 41-d ms-65 with a gold CAC sticker! That is impressive!! Way to go. I have more than a few coins I would love to sent into CAC for some stickers but, it's closed to new members.
