Had a nice morning at the NH coin expo. I was able to browse at my leisure and picked up several coins. First here are 4 toned Rosies. I had a number in mind that I wanted to offer for these but asked the dealer first what his best price was and his best was actually lower than what I was going to offer. I was happy about that.
Here's the second batch from this mornings haul. A type B 1957 Washington, a PL 1994 D Washington, and a well struck 1972 D Kennedy with a semi PL reverse.
Picked this one off of eBay a few weeks ago...paid a bit over price guide ($300), but the small premium was well spent considering older dimes are tough to find with attractive toning at lower MS grades. Not quite sure why it isn't a 64 as it has the luster and pop to bump it up, IMHO. As usual, robec shoots some amazing photographs -- even through slabs! Especially impressive considering these shots were through the infamous "glare slabs" of NGC.
Nice purchase Cremebrule! Not only am I now hungry, but I am excited for you as well. Sometimes those are the best coins to buy. Slightly undergraded with the potential to upgrade. That is what you want. You can always have it CAC'd. That would had a tiny bit of value. You did good.
Hugh, if you ever need a beneficiary for your coin collection, I volunteer. Those coins are just stunning. The proof Morgans look like they came out of the press yesterday. I wouldn't worry about being scattered with your collection, I think your doing just fine. My latest addition. A creamy Peace Dollar with booming luster. MS64 with a mighty clean cheek and fields.
Thank you. I thought the same thing. Still has plenty of original mint luster too. I also felt the strike was pretty strong. Not often do you find some good definition in the hair.
Hard to say. I'll know more when I get it in hand. I felt it was under graded. As you know, the obverse typically carries the day, so the mark you mentioned and the other one in the field to the left of the eagle might be the reason. A MS65 also jumps in price significantly. I've also see 65's much worse than this one.
That's what it looks like, plus the mark to the left of the eagle in the field stands out. There is one small ding on her nose which isn't that noticeable too which might have been a factor also. None of these would preclude me from owning this coin. It is a real beauty. CAC would probably green sticker this coin.
Picked this up as a Liberty Walking Half type coin--lowest mintage of the 1940's issues. Nice uniform rosy color on it:
Thanks for all the likes. Im have a blast posting and I recently bought a lot of coins and a small but cool collection, so I can go one for a while. Please tell me when yall are tired of my pictures or when I start repeating post. With that purchase I have some up grades. ( So you know what that means A few new coins are in a set like this one.
Ok, I could certainly use some help. Let me know if you see where I can make some improvements. I wouldnt mind having a few of your post. They are looking good!
