I gotta go with Homestead with the guy and the cattle plowing. Only for the fact that I grew up about 30 miles from there :)

    Thanks, TC.

It looks like I won't be spending a lot of money with the Mint next year. Slim pickings.

I particularly like the cannon and flag on the Saratoga design and the S-curve bridge for the Blue Ridge Parkway design.

The mint is becoming so good at taking e-surveys, wouldn't it be nice if they chose the designs by letting us (the people) vote for them? I mean really, why should a handful of people, with apparent diminished capacities, choose the designs?

A few of the designs, especially those with slogans and extra dates, are unfortunately reminiscent of the state series, where too many looked like collages by committee. The ATBs work best as naturalistic scenes.

Do you mean like not having an alligator on the Everglades coin? You would think that would have been a no-brainer. Not so with the Mint selection committee. So what if the alligator is the most important wildlife element in the Everglades! Sure there are a lot of birds down there, but without the alligators digging their holes, the birds wouldn't be flourishing nearly as well.

I live 2 and 1/2 hours from the Everglades and go down there at least twice a year and find it difficult to imagine what sort of cretins must sit on that committee to make a boneheaded move like that.

Will we ever see the regular quarter that was issued from 1932 to 1998? All the designs are nice but please give me back the regular quarter.

Now how is the mint going to make money off of quarters if there is only one design...

This is why they should make a new design for the Dime, even if it's only for a year. Personally I think Dimes are in need of a makeover.

I agree with Treehugger. When I first saw that they had announced the 2014 designs, I looked to see how they did the Everglades Alligator.
    WHAT! No Gator! How stupid.

The gator is so popular that other mints are making them, but our mint, lo, cannot. Too bad they missed all those sales.

Why would we want that? I'd rather have them redesign all the coins to get the presidents off of them. I understand the place all these presidents hold in American history but America is more than just these presidents.

Theodore Roosevelt understood that and look at some of the great designs that came out of his ideal that American coin design should strive to be the best in the world!! It's unfortunate that coin design is so politicized now. It would be difficult to have a second golden age of coin design.

Okay, how about this: Let's take the presidents off of all the coins and put QE II on them. God knows, many countries have her on them. We can justify the move by stating we, just as Canada and Australia, were also a part of England at one time. Of course, it will be hard to take (and look at) at first.

However, after she goes to the great beyond, QE II gets replaced with Kate Middleton. It is at that point, my friends, that we realize how smart we were to replace the presidents with the queen.

Exactly, perfect example of many. Guess the mint can't figure out that collectors would buy more if the designs were chosen by collectors. The selection of each design could take place over severals months to a year, thus giving many (millions?) a stake in the outcome and peaking their interest in the program. The automation is clearly available to accomplish this with minimal cost/effort.

I don't know, can we setup a poll with all the choices to at least let the mint know what is most popular or are their too many choices?
