Just wanted to get some expert opinions on what you all think is going on here. It is a early date Washington Quarter
Joe: Cool MM on quarter. Looks like a little bit of everything to me: RPM + MD + PMD. I have never seen anything like it before. TC
I am personally thinking that the initial MM has some PMD to it, then there is the MD, then the RPM. For this year, which I purposely left out, there are only three known RPM and they are all south. This would be east. Its on my list of coins to send out to James Wiles unless the gang here can convince me otherwise and save myself a few bucks.
If you remove the doubled area, would the mintmark be smaller than normal? An RPM is a separate punch of the MM, so if you remove the doubled part of the RPM you will still be left with a normal-sized mintmark. Otherwise, if you remove the doubling and the mintmark is smaller, it is MD or PMD.
So based on what ur saying, it looks to me as though it is a rpm. Is that what ur thinking? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If I "take away" the doubling in my mind, it looks like the MM would be smaller than normal...so I would say MD.
