I acquired this coin by means of our good friend across the pond, YOC, who found it while metal detecting.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!!

So I had a bit of fun looking for the Sear number and sundry information (He was nice and gave the mint, but nothing else.).

Here's what I found (Bear with me oh experienced collectors.):

    Sear 16487, billion reduced centenionalis.
Obv. URBS ROMA Helmeted bust of Roma l.
Rev. No legend, she-wolf suckling twins, mint mark TR (Treir, Germany)
followed by the officina mark S (2) and a dot, with two stars above wolf.

Very nice. Well centered and detailed. I believe your coin is listed as RIC VII Trier 529.

Very Nice! Great detail on that coin. And a cool story behind it to boot. I need to get a better example. Mine spent a lot of time in the ground...and it shows:confused:.

    Put it in a coffin?!?! Heresy!!!!!

My philosophy is if it isn't already slabbed, leave it be. If it is already slabbed, leave it be.

Is that right? The mintmark on yours is TRS dot, while mine is TRS star.

There are some who like to note the shoulder decoration (or lack) on the wolf. Mine is a TR.P with a star on the shoulder (RIC 452, page 217 Vol VII). The OP coin is RIC 529, page 215, Vol VII. It is very good looking.

When IDing these and the Constantinopolis coins, it is good to weigh the coin and find out if it is over 2g and was issued with the Two Soldiers Two Standards types or lighter and came with the One Standard variety. I don't believe this mark come in the light version but some do and can not be assigned an RIC number without a weight. Some people specialize in these and have worked out the sequence of the order of issue. Not I.
