I was having a skunky day at work until I opened up a roll of nickels and found not only a 1956-P nickel but also a 1936-P buffalo nickel! This is the second or third buffalo I have pulled out of a roll in the last couple of months. I also found a 1949-D nickel with that beautiful '40s patina. Here's my buffalo, which is in good shape.

2 boxes of halves. Box #1 - 1-40%, Box #2 was a skunk. Came across an Ecuadorian 50 centavos coin, apparently made out of steel. Finally caught up on the boxes the banks were behind on last week.

Finished off my fifth box of pennies for the year:
    - 14 Wheats: 1942, 1944, 1945 (x2), 1946 (x2), 1948, 1950, 1953-D, 1954-D, 1957-D (x3), 1958
    - 7 Canadian: 1962 (x2), 1972, 1974, 1981, 1983, 1990

    and picked up $40 nickels, half CWR, half BWR. No silver but I did find 16 pre-1960 coins: 1939 (x2), 1940, 1941, 1941-D, 1953 (x2), 1953-S, 1954-D, 1955 (x2), 1956, 1958-D (x2), 1959, 1959-D

Just got done going through my first box of cents.

The box was split approximately 76% Copper-Plated Zinc/24% Copper Alloy.

    8 Canadian cents:
    • 1965
    • 1973
    • 1974
    • 1977
    • 1984 x2
    • 1998
    • 1999 (red)

    12 Wheat cents:
    • 39-P
    • 44-D
    • 45-P
    • 45-D
    • 46-D
    • 48-D
    • 50-D x2
    • 51-S
    • 52-D (some red)
    • 56-D (some red)
    • 58-D
    These three beauties:

And, the oldest coin I have ever found in circulation, a 1900 Indian Head cent in Fine condition:

In addition, I found many nice upgrades for my Lincoln Cent Circulation set, and I'm only missing two coins for a complete Lincoln Memorial date/mintmark set: 1959-P and 1968-S.

But it's finding something like the 1900 Indian Head that keeps me opening roll after roll. This is the joy of numismatics, in my opinion. Sure, I could buy hundreds of those coins on eBay, and in it's present condition it's value is less than $5, but the fact that I found it means it will always have a special place in my collection.

It's a great feeling, isn't it? I recently pulled an 1893 Indian head penny out of a roll, my first IHC. It holds a special place in my collection.
