What's this raised area on reverse of 99-p dime?

    I'm still new but have personally yet to come across anything like this. Raised area below"US" of PLURIBUS extending thru "IM" of DIME Any help is appreciated!

    I really can't tell from your photos, but it could have been a die gouge that the Mint attempted to polish out. Note that there are, what looks like, quite a few die polishing lines in that area along the rim.

    Thanks Chris, not sure what I can do to get u a better picture though. Any advice will be heeded

    Part of it has to do with your lighting. Note how the top of the lettering appears washed out. Also, some of the elements appear blurry. Are you using a copy stand or tripod? This would probably eliminate "camera shake".

    Its just a small Celestron usb scope. My prob is with the 6 built in LEDs that are automatic and diffusing them has been an issue. Ill try again.

    Oh, okay! I've read that some people have problems like this with LED lighting. I think someone commented that they used tape or something to cover some of the LED's, but I'm not 100% sure.
