I tried calling PCI a couple of times, I left messages for them to call me back and I never heard from them. Has anyone here done business with PCI (coin grading) recently and are they reputable (can I trust them with my coin submissions in that they will be returned)?
My question is.....why would You want to deal with them? I can understand that the two heavyweights (PCGS & NGC) are more expensive and can tie up Your coins longer, but what about ANACS or ICG? They are recognized and affordable. It would be far easier to get rid of a coin in one of their holders than a PCI slab any day. (should You ever decide to)
They have changed hands many times over the years. I don't here much about them anymore. Many collectors will not do business with dealers that sell these types of slabs.
I have to agree!!!!! As I was thinking they if fact were closed down when Dominion coin grading .that how this was graded for free.
I collect those Dominion Slabs. I only have 2 in my collection. I do have a Sample slab from Dominion as well.
I have slab boxes for PCI coins to fill with more graded coins by them. They grade for a low price plus have cool looking holders. However I don't want to give them coins and find out they went out of business and never get them returned. That would be disturbing. For the record I would not buy coins from PCI thinking they're good ones. They grade problem coins these days and make no indication about that on their holders.
No I do not. When I owned my coin shop I got the offer. All 5 were grade numeric grade As I had one person that always asked to have PCI was the best for nickel die variety 's .
I no longer have any desire to own coins in lower tier slabs such as SEGS, PCI, etc. People are always going to assume that these coins have problems and were sent to those companies because they would have been details graded by NGC or PCGS. I would rather have the coin be raw, because at least then I can give it the benefit of the doubt.
If I was sending items for grading and had no history of owner . Like the coin I posted Icg or Anacs that my two cents .
Edited: No B/S/T discussions in the regular threads, only in advertising subforums! All coins I send to SEGS are never crack outs from other grading services. If you ever purchase a SEGS coin from me then I will guarantee the coin will grade regularly from PCGS or NGC or your money back.
I wouldn't assume that they add value. A coin in either an ANACS, ICG, or PCI holder will trade equally with a raw coin. There is virtually no premium.
nope. It's fact. Show me anyone who pays a premium for ASEs in one of those holders, because nobody (dealers) will pay more than they do for a raw coin. In fact, I'd say that dealers don't pay a premium on NGC or PCGS ASEs either, but it's not because I'm anti-slab, it's because I am anti-ASE in slabs.
