Acetone cleaning service for PVC contaminated coins?

Is there a service that will do simple acetone cleaning for PVC contaminated coins? I have quite a number of coins with PVC contamination, none of which are valuable beyond their sentimental value to me. Is there a service where you can send in a bulk batch of coins to be acetone cleaned? I'd do it myself but have too many other projects right now to focus on these low value coins.

Yup, I'd say that's the only company I know about who does coin restoration but it's gonna cost you some big dollars. Once you find out how much it's gonna cost you, I'm sure you're gonna decide to acetone your coins yourself.

 

Yes, these are not expensive coins at all so that probably doesn't make sense. Anyone want to offer to do acetone cleaning on the side!?

 

Just buy a quart of acetone at your local hardware store.

 

And DEFINITELY read the label.

 

I believe that unless you personally try the "conservation" process, you'll never appreciate the magnitude of efforts required to achieve "acceptable" results. I would suggest that you wait until time/priorities are adjusted to learn this phase of your educational process.
Patience and reality adjustments are often required to achieve acceptable results. It may be similar to accomplishing an "acceptable" golf score, but well worth the effort.
