Howdy peeps, Long time no Ribbit! Anyways, I'm trying to get Pic #1 from this eBay Auction: http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/1668-irish-trade-token-kinsale-penny-292597704 I do not have a Worthpoint account and cannot get one at this time, so I'm hoping someone here has a Worthpoint account and can get the pic of the Reverse of that coin, since that specific coin has been officially disputed that Boyne got the Legend wrong on the Reverse and I need the pic of the Reverse to confirm who's right, Boyne or the other guy? Thankies! Ribbit Ps: Does anyone know if the Coin Forgery eBay Group (CFe) is still active or not?
Pps: The coin in the eBait Auction is a 1668 Kinsale Penny from Ireland. If anyone can get the 2 pics of the coin and post the pics here, I will explain what the argument is, via referencing the pics. That coin has a unique quirk about it and it's that quirk that's been disputed. The pic of the Reverse will prove who's right. Ribbit
Thankies! But guess what? The Legend is messed up and unreadable, where the dispute is over, which is the town's name. Either Kinsale is properly spelled or it's spelled A.K. Sale instead. Boyne says A.K. Sale, someone else says it is spelled correctly but I cannot find a specimen that proves either way? That sucks! However, I do find it interesting that it is Clipped just like the one I got and I've read the town report from 1669 that authorized the coins to be minted and I saw who got the job. They must have minimized the copper used to make more coins per/pound. Cheapwads! Ribbit Ps: What was the final winning bid for it?
Ps: What was the final winning bid for it? I don`t know. All I did was click the pic in the link you provided and then used the arrow to see the reverse. Copied both and cropped and combined them
Mercury is more my style! Ribbit-Rubbit-Ribbit Ps: Mercury happens to be Earth's first Moon, the father is Triton.
Ever notice Triton is Scorched in its southern hemi, as if it entered an atmosphere of Oxygen, perhaps? Ribbit
Ya kinda answered your own question back in 2009: http://www.cointalk.com/threads/1668-joseph-phillipps-half-peny.64511/ post #3.
Please explain, since your comment has zero bearing on this discussion. I used the werd "rare" in that post. Do you think that somehow ties that thread into this thread, perhaps? What's your point? Ribbit
I know and I also know that your attention to detail SUCKS! Look at the legend on the reverses, relative to the date. They are not the same variety but Boyne only lists one variety! Reworked die, perhaps? Also, since both coins have a clipped planchet, you should determine if there's a die orientation difference as well. I would dew it but it's your coin so you're suppose to be doing the legwork, not me. Also, you should dew opacity overlays in Photoshop. I don't have Photoshop so I can't. Ribbit
