A long standing hole in my collection is for a corner clip. I recently ran across a nice example, but the dealer wanted over $3000!!! Even if I could have afforded it, that was WAY overpriced (IMO). Anyway, I did find this example recently and it's not the best, but adequate. As I said in the title - sometimes you have to settle.
Nice coin , but I would use some VerdiChem to protect the coin . Also to get rid of the green . Either way it can't hurt .
How much do you pay if you don't mind me asking? How does a corner clip occur? This happened at the mint?

Thanks for that. I've been away from serious collecting for a while and was unaware of this product. I did a little Googling and it looks great. I assume you are talking about their Vericare product? When I was last seriously involved, the only safe cleaning was a product called, I believe, MS70, for use on non copper uncirculated coins. Someone told me it was taken off the market as it was a carcinogen. Thanks for the advice.
No problem , the inventor , a chemist , is a member of this site . I've used it with great results . No color change at all , unlike MS-70 that I still have . A carcinogen , I better be more careful with it or take it to a hazardous waste site .
I don't mind, but I don't remember it exactly. I got it on eBay for less than $100 - I was very happy. I had a snipe in for considerable more.
I would have paid a lot more too , the only thing that could make the coin nicer is if it was a '55 Doubled die .
