It sounds like some people are letting their wives dictate what hobbies they can enjoy.... How would Archie Bunker and Ralph Kramdin handle this situation as well as some modern stars like Tim the toolman?
While I don't have a wife it is not which hobbies I enjoy it is the space that I can enjoy them in. Which is very limited because, and I quote, 'my stuff does not match anything and is a random assortment of trinkets'. Which is 100% true. What is the saying? 'Happy wife = happy life' And if I remember correctly Tim the Toolman seems to be fairly restricted to his garage for his hobby space wasn't he
Lol. I have been there too. This house, in my suburb, it was already assumed Ramen noodles were going to be part of my steady diet. Man, they are proud of their houses up here.
In my life in collecting, I have know exactly one couple where both parties were equally very serious collectors (not one developing the interest to keep peace in the family). He collected Roman bronzes and she Greek silver so they did not argue over who owned which coin. Perhaps better is when both parties collect something so they understand the mentality of the collector even though one of them collects something other than coins. Shoes and jewelry do not count in this sense of the word collect but old maps and manuscripts do.
It would be a great time to set up an area for photos and take pictures of coins to share on here. Who knows, maybe you'll discover a treasure you forgot/did'nt know you had.
Well, she'll have to go then! simple as that. My wife once told me its the coins, or her....................................I miss her.
Same boat, only 6 months further along then you We bought a new house in May of last year and kept the old one as a rental. I think I did 100 hours of work on the rental in a month to get it ready, and I expect it will be another year or so before my bank account heals. On a positive note I did get a new office all to myself with a weird little closet which is perfect for a photo setup. The previous poster who indicated they are great for photograph was correct, I never have to clean up my photo stuff, just shut the door.
Me I have a big (4200 sq ft) old (ca 1785) house that's an absolute neverending project been there 14 years and nowhere near done plus a couple disassembled buildings to put up plus 2 businesses to run but no wife.. My girlfriends have never complained about my collecting cause I always paid the bills and made sure there was plenty of money to keep things running before I went out and bought stuff still the way I do things why I'm not buying any coins lately as much as I want to
Heck Ardatirion, I never had a problem with the ramen noodle diet...they have all of the major food groups... like sodium and fat. You know, the good stuff. Bruce
Well of course bacon is better than ramen noodles Bing, but what self-respecting coin collector can afford bacon? We've got other priorities. Bruce
Well, I was responding to the "good stuff". You can't have "good stuff" w/o bacon!!! Besides, bacon goes with everything.
