This is a red/brown Indian Cent but what do you think the Sheldon Scale Grade is?

I gave it AU58 but would like to hear from some more knowledgeable graders.

For the record I meant to list MS-60, not AU-60 as a grade option in the choices. Sorry folks!

I'm saying au 58 could go 55 if their being tough but I'm feeling lenient today

Im with redRaider, all the lines are sharp, "liberty" is clear as day, just has the spots ... If I have to pick from the choices MS-62

Seriously folks? Those aren't even choices I listed. This isn't a trick question, and at least one of the choices I listed is the grade. Now why do you think this specimen is either a AU-50 or AU-53? Curious to read your explanation.

Seriously. You are selling the coin on ebay with a link to the auction in your sig line.
I don't agree with SEGS on this coin. With all the rub and spots, I net graded it a 50.

I totally see wear on the hair curl the brow and a few of the highest spots on the reverse granted I'm not seeing in hand but definitely an au starting to lean back toward 55 maybe it's the 3rd giant size absolut and cranberry turning me back into my conservative self

I went 63 because of the spots . It has a little wear but with market grading they'll call it rub .

I don't agree with SEGS either, but I still don't see how you get a 50. Even if there is a rub (which I do not see), that would be a 58. Add the spot and you might get a 55, but how do you get a 50?

I went with AU-55. Looks like some wear on the feather tips, the diamonds and the cheek bone.

Heck I've seen plenty of coins that should have received an AU but were bumped up to a 62-3 , so an AU-60 isn't unfeasible .

I have to agree that the spots are too distracting, and that PCGS or NGC would have knocked it down at least to a 62. From this example I can see why SEGS has the reputation that it does...

You'd think SEGS knows their reputation and would want to improve on it by toughening their standards .

Actually it was a trick question, when you ask the grade, it is with the assumption you are talking about the standards of the the top tier TPG's unless stated otherwise. If you asked what grade SEGS assigned it, you would have gotten different answers.

Went 55. Plenty of wear that I can see.

They have. I've submitted coins to SEGS recently and now they're tougher than NGC.
