Hey, I'm the first to admit that this lil' darling may not be that prettiest coin in my collection, but I am still extremely happy to call her my newest baby ... it is fairly difficult to find a sweeter lookin' bronze coin from the good ol' 8th century!! (in my low price range)

... anyway ... yup, I am very pleased to add this coin to my rat-pack ... and this coin fills the gap

=> I now have an ancient coin spanning every single century, from the 6th century BC, though to the 13th century AD (man, that's a pretty long span, eh?)

Constantine V with Leo IV. Æ Follis
    Mint: Struck in Syracuse
    Reign: AD 741-775
    Diameter: 20 mm
    Weight:
Obverse: Constantine V, bearded, on left, and Leo IV, beardless, on right, each standing facing, wearing crown and chlamys and holding akakia; between their heads, cross
Reverse: Leo III, bearded, standing facing, wearing crown and chlamys and holding cross potent
    Reference: Sear 1569
    Other: Virtually full reverse legend

I realize that it's a rare century, but please post any of your relevant coins!!

    => thanks gang

hey, it's almost time for the San Fran versus Seattle time!! (talk to you later!!)

    Cheers

Very nice coin, Steve. I've got one too. It's not as crisp as yours, but I paid a whopping $5.46 for it, shipped...

Steve, your Constantine V is far better than most. It's a really good one.

nice coin indeed, that one is really in pretty good shape.

here's an early ninth century coin with con, leo V and constantine V, similar style.

i always think of these as the "lord farquaad" coins...considering the hair styles .

Congrats! Was that a theme you were working on? Would be cool if you could put together and post your favourite from each of those centuries.

Thanks for the coin-compliments, gang ... yah, I have a good feelin' about this new lil' addition

=> hey, it has a bit of a weird flan shape, and yes, there are a few missing coin-details, but overall I really think it looks as good or better than the majority of this type!!

... are you guys watching the football game? (it's a nail bitter!!)

Steve, your coin is the best I've seen of the type. It looks far better than the vast majority. The seller pointed out the virtually full reverse legend, which is atypical. You usually have to collect a couple of these to get all the details.

Cool new pickup steve! I have this one also which I'll post later. But I think John gets the bottom feeder award for this type :D

Yah, that was too bad ... I thought we were gonna pull it off, but he tossed an interception (*rats*)

=> both of the remaining teams are awesome (it should be a great SuperBowl)

    *sigh*

"Post your favorites by century"... that would be a interesting and fun thread! Perhaps have 3 days of posting for each century. From seeing similar threads, it is helpful to give a schedule in the initial posting.
