I thank the coin gods that I found this Sikyon coin before we left the NYINC show. This one has been on the want list for quite a while and this is precisely the grade & price for which I’ve been looking. SIKYONIA, Sikyon AR Stater 335-330 BC 11.94 grams, 23.2 mm Obv: Chimera advancing left, paw raised, wreath above, ΣΕ below. Rev: Dove flying left, I left, all within olive wreath. Grade: a gVF nicely toned coin. Other: Sikyon mint. BCD Peloponnesos 219, Traité III 776, BCD Peloponnesos pg 40, 56. SNG Cop 48 var (N instead of I). Ex CNG auction 312 lot 88 originating from a 1930’s collection.

Super lookin' coin, Collect89 ... the Lion and Goat are especially sweet (sweeter than my example) => but I still love parading the ol' girl around the forum
Oh no! This was from that old 1930's collection and you don't have the original box it came with! That is a damn shame. The coins in the group all came with these little shallow boxes - the kind designed to be placed in coin cabinets. The boxes had some pedigree info on them. Most were purchased between 1938 and 1940 in New York, from New Netherlands Coin Co and other dealers active in the city at that time.
I am getting photos that are the correct color & more accurately depict the coin by simply placing the coin on my desk & using my hand-held camera. There are three fluorescent lights about 5 ft above the desk-top. I've got to get some similar fluorescent lamps & try to reproduce this photo success at home.
