Bought this at an indoor flea market near where i live in MA and i was just drawn to it for some reason although the tone is neutral at best lol but either way i liked the look personally. Now mostly i need some standing lib people to chime in and help with the grade. To me i thought au58 but i am quite a novice to the series. Could anyone give me their opinion on its grade? Also it seems the strike is better than others i have seen but i cant be certain about the full head thing. Would this be a full head strike? Thanks in advance ladies and gents!
Really.. U think that high? I thought the leg had some wear but its tough to distinguish for me in this series. It definitley has full luster thats for sure
I have to say I lean toward 62 but the toning constricts the image and the general overall ness 62 maybe 63
Front has a lot of worn areas, marks and nicks. I say the front appears to be XF40. The coin's reverse is in better condition. Going mostly off the detail of the eagles feathers, I would say reverse exhibits XF45 to Au50.
Now the obverse compared to MS62. Not even close. *The photograde example is between 1917 Type 1 and Type 2. So their will be differences in the design. I'm only using the example for comparing the details.
I'd go conservative at AU-58. There appears to be either slight wear or just a weak strike (ie shield weakness at 8 o'clock). The head is very nice, but I'm not sure whether "full head" can be designated on less than MS grades. Regardless, it's a nice coin with great detail, although I don't like the toning personally.
Yea i was wondering if i should dip. Plenty luster so may help. Id hate to make worse though. Endeavor this is a pcgs graded xf40
