Hi everyone. I own a coin shop and just started dealing in these. They were all completely green and another coin guy told me to let them sit in olive oil for a month or so. Here is the result. I have no idea on value or what type they are. The last silver coin was not in oil or green. That is a separate coin I bought from a guy. Any help or info on these would be greatly appreciated. I can take better close up photos of some of the better ones to get more details if you need it.

    Thanks,
    Den - Capos Coins

Though I couldn't give you accurate identifications of each coin, I can tell you that in the first picture the four coins are Byzantine, in the second picture the first coin is Roman, the third coin is Greek, and the fourth coin is also Roman. I have no clue what the the second green or the last coin could be. The final coin is an anonymous Roman Republic denarius. I'm sorry I couldn't be of much help, but someone from our knowledgeable ancient community should come around and help you out.

I am not 100 percent certain, but I think the last coin is:

Anonymous. 225-212 BC. AR Didrachm – Quadrigatus (20mm, 6.75 g, 2h). Rome mint. Laureate head of Janus; curved truncation / Jupiter, hurling thunderbolt and holding scepter, in galloping quadriga right driven by Victory; ROMA in relief in linear frame. Crawford 28/3; Sydenham 65; RSC 24.

I might be a little dense, but I am having trouble placing the obverse and reverse of the coins together. Perhaps if you posted each separately you might get more responses.

And smaller pictures (file size, not dimensions)-- I gave up after more than a minute went by and the pictures still hadn't loaded. Keeping them under ~150kb and displaying the full pictures in the post will likely lead to more interest.

This is a high value coin if it is genuine. I doubt that it is and would suggest it be sent for certification if you think it might be real. The style and soft details make me doubt it would be worth the cost of a certificate. The others are all very low grade and very common types. Condition is everything when selling common coins and there is nothing here that would interest a collector beyond the very earliest stage of the hobby.

I had no trouble opening the images, but, again, I wasn't sure which went with which. There are many here who are more than happy to help ID your coins.

I agree with Doug. However, you can see a couple of these being offered in the latest CNG auction: http://cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=249764

Thats the link to the item for sale. I listed it high just to see what kind of offers came in and non really did to be honest. I might be into it for what its worth at this point. Also I am about to write another post asking about 2 coins I'm not sure on. Not sure if they are cull die break errors or not.

Hey, congrats on that certification! I'm not big on slabbed ancients, but I wouldn't buy that coin without some sort of guarantee from someone well-versed in Repulbic denarii.

I'm not sure if that is a bad price or not. I checked on http://www.acsearch.info/ and there is a big variation of prices. The lowest I saw was around $300 while some of the better ones went for well over $1000. Vcoins is the same. ONly two listed there, but one is $345 and the other $1200.

If it were within my strict budget, I would gladly buy it. But, alas, it's not even close.

Ya John. My one coin guy thought it might be a fake and I was into it for a nice little bit so I figured the only way I would get top dollar was to send it in plus the great people on here said if it came back real it would be good! Thanks again guys and if you know anything about cull die break errors I just posted a question on that form. Thanks again
