So in another thread, after alot of verbal abuse, a great question came up and then the thread was locked due to a members potty mouth.

DESERTGEM brought up the idea of asking how the first slabs came about. I would love to read some non-biased info on this as NGC and PCGS (the only TPGs I consider to be worthwhile due to ANACS working with TV coin sales) tend to toot their own horn.

    Let the knowledge flow begin.

i think this is exactly what the other thread was shut down for. the snarky little dig. and what do you know, you were part of that thread too!

why is it hip to bash someone in any way possible. and to be honest, i dont think that your link really covers the question. i think i am going on a self imposed exile for awhile until the moderators can start cleaning up the real issues rather than just flexing their numismatic muscles like power tripping cops.

It wasn't a bash. It was a suggestion in case you had inquiries in the future.

maybe. but i feel like coming from that last thread to just make a snappy comment is weak. i created a thread or commented on a thread awhile back where the same thing happened. i needed dimensions for a US Mint product. it took like 7 or 8 posts before someone just answered the question with the dimensions. those 7 or 8 posts were all "you should have checked this place first" (which didnt have it) or "you should have called these people first" (who didnt know)....too many smart donkeys

Post #3 from the thread bkozak posted the link for.

"Yes it is real! Mr. Alan Hager of Accugrade is the ONE invented of slabbing coin and also professional experts grading of coin & cards. Slabbing coin start in 1984 follow by PCGS 1986 then NGC in 1987. The Lawsuit is real. In year 2000 I met mr. Alan Hager in Baltimore, Maryland, March. He personally graded my coins in Baltimore Coin Show. Here's one of the slab that he graded in youtube

    http://www.pennyondime.com"

    That doesn't answer your question?

It's not worth the time to try to help you. Stop acting like a child and understand that others have tried to help and you jump on them with your insults.

Don't disregard ANACS due to their 'current' standing in the Numismatic world. From what I understand they were the originators of grading coins for a fee and have much to do with the history of slabs and their inception I would imagine.

I happen to collect ANACS coins specifically. Most of my coins are within what I consider a point or two tolerance from similar coins graded by NGC or PCGS. And if there is a problem with a coin graded by them, I shrug it off as I've seen plenty of problems with the other two grading companies as well.

Oh, and I only collect small white ANACS slabbed coins. I tend to pass on the current yellow and slightly older blue holders.

Lets get a couple of things straight rysherms: When I made that suggestion I intended for YOU to do the research and start the knowledge process, rather than just ask others and then start in on their posts. PCGS and NGC are Johnnies come lately in slabbing and grading for a business model. There is a lot of history there for you to look for.

Secondly, if a mod flexes their numismatic muscle you will know it. Correct your attitude and posting contents or it may not be self imposed. No threat, just truth.

    1. You specifically suggested threads be created with numismatics in mind, you provided a few, I started one with your suggestion because I thought I was in the dark regarding some mysterious history regarding TPGs but as it turns out, my understanding of the multiple companies timeline and appearance of said companies was accurate. Start the knowledge process? Um, a great majority of threads are questions people are asking. Why was my asking one a problem? I would name-drop here one of the FOUNDERS of the BETTER TPGs out there but because of what I am about to say and the stink it is going to raise, I will leave his name out of it. But you are talking to someone with significant numismatic knowledge, involvement in multiple numismatic groups/clubs, etc, like a child.

    2. Your mod flex is so obvious right now its scary. If this is what the site has degenerated into, or allowed someone to moderate like this, delete my (truthful) posts, close the thread down, kill my account and continue on course with how you are now. If you look back, I originally supported your divine rising to moderator status because in my experience you were fair. Now it seems if someone doesn't align with your agenda, you abuse your power. That is what I see. It is obvious if one follows the last thread regarding ebay and AWORDCREATED and how you are now just, again, flexing, because I spoke my mind, and did it within forum guidelines. If anything, I was trying to moderate his ridiculous attack. Well, good for you, you have the ability to get the last word in. But just like our governments scary men in black suits who have the power to do so, my bet is that you just make it all disappear.

So do whatever it is you need to do. Abuse your power; you wouldn't be the first and certainly won't be the last. Hopefully a few people are able to read (and most likely agree with) the fact that people on this forum change or silence their own opinion to align with a mod before it is censored. If my choices are not being able to speak my mind within guidelines, or exile....in the words of a Boondock Saint - I'll Catch Ya on the Flip Side

So you ask a question that you already know more about then everyone else, and then attack the people who post to help you. You think this is the way to start a numismatic conversation?

Keep on whinging - how this is detention related to numismatics? Only a matter of time when this thread gets locked.

If you don't like someone's altitude especially an mod, you are more than welcome to go somewhere else. Lecturing a mod in a public forum will not make you last and you are not the first or last.

I've been in this forum for years and while I may not agree with all of mod's actions - they have taken reasonably good care of this forum and would like to thank them for their time and dedication.
