Yes they do allow for partial refunds; however, the seller can't attempt to withhold any refund until the buyer posts a positive feedback. I say this as my cousin tried to hold a refund hostage until the other party gave a positive feedback on the transaction, and her eBay account was removed by eBay.

Wow! Removed the account? Surely not for a first offense! It takes an earthquke to get eBay to actually take notice and DO something!

eBay removed some of my PCGS genuine "problem" coins once because I didn't photograph the back of the holder. Just the front of the holder and then 2 close-ups of the coin itself. They can be ridiculous about what/who they go after.

She was shocked, and when she told me about it I was surprised too. But the reason eBay gave her was her actions were an attempt to undermine their feedback system. *shrugs shoulders*

I'll ignore your personal attack and patiently await you to mature. Seems pretty obvious you do not understand what extortion is, but keep trying :).

I wish there was a "unlike" button. On some other sites if a post gets a certain amount of "unlikes" it starts to fade, and enough of them hides the post altogether. Unfortunately some posts on CT do not deserve the digital ink used to post them.

There is always the ignore function. I have used it at times to lower my blood pressure.

I am the original poster. I got the advice that I asked for. Thank you all for your help. The buyer is returning the item for a refund. I didn't mean for this thread to go off on a tangent.

Not your fault at all sir. I apologize on behalf of CT for your thread being derailed. I am glad though you received the advice you sought.

Returns are a pain, and often untimely since we have already withdrawn or spent the money on other coins. But you did the good and right thing as a seller. Next time it'll go more smoothly, I'm sure.

I don't get it bud. Why do you bait people and seemingly search out a confrontation? I mean, earlier you asked me for the mechanics of the scam, I took the time to explain it in detail, and then you have a completely unnecessary comment of "so what's the moral of the story"....like you're too cool to even listen.....EVEN THOUGH YOU ASKED IN THE FIRST PLACE....what gives man?

Actually (your assessment of me aside) I am still trying to understand the 'scam' - but unfortunately some people divert the focus according to their agenda. I feel no remorse for responding in my defense.

Back to the mechanics. If I understand correctly the buyer is trying to (maybe) take advantage by requesting a partial refund, right? Seems reasonable enough to ask to be protected for doing him that favor, if that is how he wishes to proceed. I fail to see how that makes the seller an extortionist. Correct me if I am wrong, but the buyer is only being bad if he leaves a neg after a negotiated partial refund, right?

What is the seller supposed to do? He can't force the buyer to agree to send it back for a refund. Probably the best move for the seller is to contact ebay and ask them what to do. Or what?

wow. you're still trying to understand the scam? my pre-school daughter understood it, but you, an adult, cough, doesn't. yikes.

nobody diverted any focus. you asked for a mechanics description, were provided with it, then replied with a useless comment of "whats the moral of the story"....AND YOU GOT CALLED OUT FOR BEING RUDE BY MULTIPLE CT MEMBERS. i don't get it man, is your ego THAT BIG???!! you can't admit that you were provided with the very thing you asked for and shot back a nasty comment?

the funny part is, as you self proclaimed, you still don't get it. i am curious, are you allowed to drive a motor vehicle and/or did you ride the short bus to school?
