judging from the wear, I don't know if better pictures would help much more. I suggest you try to get a photo of light hitting the date area which could help. Do you know if it is at least silver?

looking at the side it has no rivets and looks worn down... I'm gonna guess this is just a worn down coin. Just found it in a bunch of halves I saved a while back

looks like a bottle cap top to me, (reverse) maybe missing clad layer on obverse 265864-87325e620772493a5ab0839f1fe387ac.jpg

I'm wondering how a Kennedy half could get that much wear through circulation.

I'm with you on that one. I can't tell you how long its been since I have even seen one in ciculation. That wear has to be intentional. Perhaps this is one that has had some experimentation?

I was trying to take better pics with my phone... here's some more pics. Something worth noting that's kinda hard to see is that the space in the "D" is more circular rather than oblong like it should be...

Some things I don't get: 1) if it were wear then why would the D clearly be wrong? Wear would not shorten the body of the D. 2 there's a clear dark ring around the edges that is completely off along with the writings being gone. 3) how on earth could it have that much wear? 4) if you look at the details, the major markings are there (the head and eagle) it's only the details that are gone and the lettering. If you look though there's a clear circle all the way around the edges that is off from what it should be. Wear wouldn't move that circle or deform the way the letter D was made would it? Wear would simply level down the markings wouldn't it?

Notice how the off struck ring goes right along with the lettering being gone? Idk just looks like more than wear to me

I think it's a pocket piece as well.

Most people would probably say this is worn. I, however, would say it is a die alignment trial piece. Not worth a ton more, but an interesting piece.
