    Hey all.

It's been a while since I posted here but I got a couple of new acquisitions. So here is my first Rouble . I paid $50 for it and was hoping to give you guys a look for an appraisal. I'm also a bit concerned about its authenticity. I'm not an expert but the edges do not seem right. However the wear is significant. And there are some deep grooves. In addition the weight on this coin is .6665 according to the scale at the pawn shop I bought it from. I'm not sure the weight and style match the date on it. Unless my Cuhaj book of world coins is wrong/outdated. The date is worn but says 1764 on the top of the reverse. Let me know what you think and if you like the coin ☺️

    Thanks
    Larry

again, I don't know, but I have seen the grooves like that on these coins. I think they are pretty cool, and as are Russian coins from this period. they have some crazy edges, here's a 5 kopek I own from the era(ish).

can't really say any more than that, but I think you have a pretty cool coin there.

I don't know. Coin is in bad shape. I looked it up in Krause and the mint mark doesn't appear to match 1764. It looks more like a 62 or 63 mint mark. Weight should be 24g, however given the wear it's going to be less. . Coin details match the illustration in Krause. You might want to look for a better example. I am not an expert on Russian coins, just going by the book information.

Silver coin looks ok but the edge definitely looks to be hand cut, i.e. not original from mint. Not the best condition but it's hard to get decent Russian coins at a good price. I wouldn't say it's a bargain but it's ok.

I don't collect "modern" coins, but since you mentioned this thread on an "Ancients" thread, I thought I'd come over a take a peek. Nice looking for a modern coin. Love the two headed "chicken". ;)

All of these coins are genuine. 50$ is very cheap for such rouble.

Well that's comforting. What do you think is the value of the Rouble, Siberian Man?

Sonlarson, that is my biggest concern about the coin. I do not have excellent resources but I can not seem to find this exact coin in anything I have looked at. What is the mint on this? The weight is .6665 of an ounce and that seems to be off. But it is indeed silver and seems to be real. I am hoping an expert can clarify.

Thanks! Looks like I made a profit here.
