I am going through a box of $25 right now and so far about 25-30% has been copper. I have quite a few 1982 pennies that I have to test. My hearing isn't all that great so I can't really do a sound test. I don't want to buy a scale just to measure the 1982 pennies either, so I will have to think of another way to determine which ones are copper. I have found a few worn wheat pennies, all from 40's and 50's - nothing earlier. But I've only been through about 1/4 of the box so I have a ways to go.
Easy way to weigh the 82's: Tape a piece of straw to the middle of a popsickle stick and tape a zincoln on the end of one of the sides. Makes a nice little weight scale plus the added bonus that you get to eat a popsickle
Then at least you didn't have to pay ebay fees and shipping and stuff. So while you didn't get full value for them at least you made more than F/V. Can't complain with that.
