I never really have any collecting goals. Just whatever I see I like I'll pick up. Obviously there are things I'm continually working on. I'm about halfway through my large cent varieties, and still work towards my goal of 100+ varieties of bust half dollars, but these are goals that transcend a single year's goals.

In a perfect world I will have:
    1. The National Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative gold, silver, and clad coins.
    2. The fourth and final glow-in-the-dark Canadian Prehistoric Creatures coin.
    3. The 2010, 2011, 2014 uncirculated US Mint sets.
    4. A 2011, 2013, 2014 Chinese silver pandas.

    • Continue educating myself on the coins I currently collect and the series I plan to purchase.
    • Read "From Mine to Mint"
    • Fill holes in my Morgan Collection
    • Sell Morgans that have been upgraded
    • Add a 1921 Peace Dollar
    • Add my first CBH
    • Enjoy the hobby

I want to finish or catch up all my inexpensive sets I started. I did them because I like the coin designs and they made great little cheap fillers when going to coin shops to round up purchases. I am behind on my Sacagaweas need 7 coins to bring it current, I need all the D mint marks for the Presidential dollars for 2013 so 4 coins and I need 17 national parks quarters to bring that set current (15p's and 2d's). I would also like to get a Dansco album for my statehood quarters as they are just in a cheap little folder my mom got for me when she put most of the set together for me as a Christmas present years ago.

I also want to finish my little boys Whitman 20th Century type set that I started (only 5 coins to go Buffalo 1913 T1, Standing Liberty Quarter T1, Barber half, Peace Dollar and Ike Bicentennial copper clad T2). I would also like to get another Whitman 20th Century type album for my other little boy and start his set (got a few coins in a harris folder right now ready to go when I get the album). I also need to get his proof set for his birth year a 2013 (I was thinking of adding a silver proof set for both boys too as I only got a regular proof set for my oldest). I have also contemplated adding the commemorative silver dollars for both boys to their collections I have started for them.

I also want to get closer to finishing my my Dansco 7070 type album (16 coins to goal) with the goal of having that set completed by the end of 2015. I also want to add some more coins to my Franklin set and am considering starting a Walking Liberty half short set.

Most of it is cleaning house for me I want to bring sets current, finish my oldest boys set, get started on my youngest boys set maybe even complete that one too by the end of year. Work some more on my 7070 so I can finish it in 2015 and then start a few new fun sets. Problem is I want to catch up before diving into new sets as I did that at one time when I started collection commemorative dollars and ended up with like a dozen before moving on to other things (heck I already have my oldest boys commemorative dollar if I want to take it out of my collection and just get a new one for me). I have also been thinking Morgan dollar date set and Peace dollar set maybe buffalo nickels. I am a huge type collector and have found the 20th century set a blast was thinking of doing one for me as well as the 20th and 21st century set as well when my 7070 is done. But I need to clean house, clean up sets, get things current before I get distracted by the next shiny thing :)

    Very simple for me:

    1) Sell off lower graded coins
    2) Buy higher graded coins

Hello everyone, I really had not thought about my coin collecting for 2014 as some issues in life which we all go through has made a change in my life style that I've had for the last 67 years, LOL. Right now selling off a lot of stuff on Ebay. Getting rid of all the extra's from junk to mint, if I have duplicates they are going. Some sets I do have two of with the best and up grades filling one and the best of seconds in the other. But at 67 and in this situation there are so many sets I will never complete, (the earlier one's) so they must go. So if I had a goal it would be to finish the sets I'm going to keep and pass on to my family. Last year I finally got a pretty nice 1916-D Merc, found it in a penny roll. I still need 1909-S VDB for the pennies. But still have 30 or 40 wheat rolls to go through but need to sell off some of the thousands and thousands I have already looked at. I still need 13 IHC's, Nine Morgan dollars and a few others. Selling all the foreign stuff, a lot I don't even know what it is, a few hundred pieces were marked in the little old brown two by two envelope's they were in and I was able to look them up but have a couple dozen that I will start a thread one day and ask for help from you all. I put a coin on the other day and several of you knew exactly what it was and sent me links etc. Thank you all very much, I was able to put it on ebay and got 10 bucks for it. Take Care everyone

    Where to begin:

I would like to complete my graded Type Set
Stay current with the Zombucks series
Add about 10 coins to my Caps and Rays Un Peso set
Add 10 coins to my BU Franklin set
Upgrade any Jeffersons I find for my Dansco
    Bring Silver Proof Sets current
    Finish my ASEs
Add 10 coins to my Libertad Set
    Pick up some gold
Add some attractive older world coinage (1500s-1800s)
Add about 10 BU Washington Quarters to my album set

I think that about covers what I am after for this year, of course theres always the way too attractive coin to pass up on that has to be included as well, so lots to look forward to as 2014 kicks into high gear!

My main goal as always is to be a smarter collector than the year before.

Reading and gaining more information about specific dies and varieties...and overall becoming more knowledgeable about the hobby.

As far as coins to obtain, I would like to fill the remaining holes in my middle date copper set.

Did the coin shop agree with your assessment on the close AM's? The first picture is a 1993 close AM, which was standard for that year. The second picture looks like a 1992-D wide AM, which was also standard for that year. Am I missing someting?
