Now that it is sold out with low mintage just under 200,000 last I saw they are going for higher on eBay now looks like. I have one that is PCGS first strike MS70 and glad I have it in my collection! Thoughts?

I would sell it before it gains shots and is no longer a 70. Just me.

Overpriced bullion with marketing tools on the label.

A lot of people think otherwise with what they are selling for.

Wow, 200 000 is pretty low. I like the W mintmark on them, keeps them a bit different from plain bullion.

A lot of people haven't tried to resell their "treasures" the following year or two after paying silly process for them. Of course, this doesn't even bring the inherent "spotting" issues into the picture.

Buying First Strike™ MS70 Silver Eagles is a fool's errand that few can capitalize on.

Basically, as stated, they are over priced bullion based upon a label.

The spot free 2012-W MS70 FS Silver Eagles did very well if you got in early. Way better than the regular blue labels.

Yes. 200,000 is pretty low and I'm sure that the figure will be used to benefit a lot of sellers.

But, the reality is that the "real" rarities with these will be those that grade 68 or less.

Still just 1 ounce of silver no matter how you look at it. I have no idea what they're selling for but I would sell before more collectors see it for what it is which is 1 oz of silver. MS70 doesn't mean a thing to me, if you like it keep it.

BU, I'd like to see what you collect. Never seen you post any of your coin purchases.

Would you post some pics of what you collect.....:D

Feel free to search through my posts, as there are many threads I've started and several I've posted to, that contain photos of coins I've picked up and added to my collection.

Do I buy 1 oz. silver rounds? No I do not. In fact the last time I had any 1 oz. ASEs was several years ago when I had been picking them up for $12-$18 each when silver was low. When silver spiked, and had reached $40/oz., I sold each ASE I had at $5 over spot, and made a nice little profit. Had silver not spiked, I would still have those ASEs as they were bought not as an investment, but more a possession. Just my luck that silver spiked when it did and I did, as everyone else did, and made money on them.

To pay more than $5 for a burnished, bullion coin is really not a sound thing to do, but as I said, a fool and money will be parted.

The 200,000 mintage quoted isn't a final mintage. These are still available in the 2013 Uncirculated Dollar Coin Set. Final mintages won't be known for awhile.
Like others in this thread, I also would warn against getting too exuberant about the future appreciation potential of any MS/PF70 modern. If you can make a buck or two on it in the near future I would sell it.

Are you saying we should wait until the price of silver is at around $4 and try to get it for $5, or more than $5 over spot?

The 2006-W, 2007-W and 2008-W, all sold as collector coins with W mint marks, are holding well above mint issue prices. I wouldn't entertain the MS-70, but, the coin has been a success and was missed in the years it did not get minted.

BU, I don't own any ASE or any modern coins either, don't want them.

BUT to call the OP a fool seems.......well, foolish.

When is the last time you called a person a fool to their face?

How about it moderators, is it ok to call people fools here?

It seemed low. I was hoping 2006-W would stay as the lowest mintage of the series.
