I watched the coin vault on HSN last night and they were selling the above slabbed in ANACS 2014, but we're hiding the date on the coin with on screen graphics, I really had to laugh, anyone else see that?

What would be the purpose of hiding the date?

Yep, they don't come out for another few weeks, they use a previous year in a 2014 holder!

Not that it really matters, but was HSN hiding the date on the slab or the date on the coin (or both)?

Not easy to hide the date on this gold coin, because of its position. Much easier with the eagle. pic2.jpg

Hiding date on ASE only, he points to 2014 on the slab frequently during the show

    nice vid cap!

I noticed (because I'm a geek) a couple o years ago that they had a sticker over the date on the SAE.

    Thank you High Definition TV!

I like how they don't have the coins yet, but ANACS knows how many will grade at MS-70.

(and yes, I know that they tell ANACS how many that they want and ANACS will keep grading coins until they have that many.)

Yes, goes to show how "reputable" ANACS is as TPG.

In fairness to ANACS, I've noticed other dealers do the same thing with PCGS and NGC graded coins.

Hmm, they should not pregrade or supply slabs in advance, false marketing, misleading

Yeah, a lot of the big bullion dealers are preselling MS/PR 69 & 70 2014 Eagles.

Why pay a premium for an MS 69/70 coin when those two grades are 99% of the coins produced? Granted not all of the ASE's are going to get slabbed but a bullion coin is a bullion coin in a slab or not so why pay the extra just to have one in a bulky holder?

While I agree with ya Ed, there's just some folks out there that's gots to have 'em slabbed. It's just another form of collecting........expensive mind you.......but a legitimate endeavor. :)

but if you're going to buy graded bullion, why ANACS?

Friends don't let friends buy ANACS coins. LOL
