Awesome finale coin, chrsmat71 ... nice haul!! => I'm absolutely lovin' the Pegasus in exergue (good eye!!)
i was on the wagon a whole week before i cracked, this is a christmas present i got myself, but it's still a big budget bronze, so i'll post it here with the rest. caracalla 198-217 ad marcianopolis (modern devnya bulgaria...as an aside, i thought this city was named after the byzantine emperor marcian later, but it was named after trajans sister..didn't know that.) pentassaria o: caracalla and his mom julia domna; ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟC ΑΥΓΟΥCΤΟC ΙΟςΛΙΑ, ∆ΟΜΝΑ (antonius augustus julia domna) r: tyche holding rudder and cornucopia, E in left field, ΥΠ ΚΥΝΤΙΛΙΑΝΟΥ ΜΑΡΚΙΑΝΟΠΟΛΙΤΩΝ (what's this say? something about macrianoplis) 30 mm 17.4 g this coin has a has nice details and a good legend, and a nasty relatively recent scratch on the obverse. maybe give a glimpse of what color the coin was the day it was minted? anyway, the scratch probably dropped the coin into the price range i could afford, and i was wanting a double busted bronze...so now part of the chrsmat71 collection.
Awesome addition. I didn't get any Ancient Christmas presents for myself. Only modern coins for me this Christmas
Gee, I'll try to keep that in mind while I ponder the empty stocking hung so carefully by the fire. OH CRAP!! Now the stocking caught fire. Man-o-man.
